Hyundai’s sub 4-metre compact SUV Venue beat the Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon, Ford Ecosport in sales by grabbing a second position in Sub Compact SUV Segment Hyundai Venue sales end with 7,049 units.
Even Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue main competitor suffered a massive drop in sales around 44%. However, the leader still tops the chart in sales and Venue takes the second place.
India’s first connected car, made its entry on 21st May, 2019. Within first week of arrival, the vehicle registered total sales of 7,049 units with bookings close to 25,000.Hyundai India aims to double its sales figure by 2019 festive season and achieve the top spot in the subcompact SUV space that’s currently lead by Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza.
Launched in 2016, Vitara Brezza takes no time in ending the Ford EcoSport Segment. In the last three years, the sub-4 crossover segment expanded with the arrival of Tata Nexon and more recently, the Mahindra XUV300. However, none come near the Vitara Brezza in terms of monthly sales.
The segment leader Vitara Brezza rival effect as it reported a massive YoY decline of 44% in the month of May 2019 at 8,781 units. This is the highest YoY monthly decline Brezza has registered ever. The last time Brezza registered sales lower than 8,781 units, was two years ago, back in June 2017 due to shut down activities in the maintenance of Production plant.
Talking about the Hyundai Venue, it starts at Rs. 6.50 lakh for the base petrol model and goes all the way up to Rs. 11.10 lakh (ex-showroom, India). It is offered with three engine options, two of which are petrol while one is diesel. The petrol engines on the Venue are the 1.2 litre 4 cylinder, VTVT, petrol unit while the other is a 1.0 litre, 3 cylinder turbocharged unit. The former has an output of 82 Bhp-115 Nm while the latter puts out 118 Bhp-172 Nm.
The diesel engine, on the other hand, is a 1.4 litre 4 cylinder, turbocharged unit that puts out a decent 89 Bhp of power and 220 Nm of torque. Speaking of gearbox options, the 1.4-litre petrol motor will get a 5-speed manual gearbox while the diesel will get a 6-speed manual unit. The 1.0-litre unit, however, gets a choice between either a 7-speed DCT unit or the 6-speed manual unit.
The top position is still under the hold of Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza with sales of 8781 units However, it’s the lowest sales figure for the Brezza in the past 23 months. Second spot hold by the Hyundai Venue with sales of 7049 units. Mahindra XUV300 hold third spot with sales of 5113 units. The fourth and fifth spots are hold by Tata Nexon with sales of 4506 units and Ford EcoSport with sales of 3604 units.
