Hyundai India has rolled out the first Venue compact SUV from its manufacturing plant near Chennai ahead of the vehicle’s launch on May 21. Hyundai Venue will mark the entry of the company into the compact SUV segment.
Hyundai Venue production has started in India ahead of launch later this month on May 21, 2019. Hyundai India has rolled off the Venue from the company’s assembly line at its manufacturing facility – Chennai. The upcoming Hyundai Venue was unveiled in April, making a world debut in India as well as the United States, at the New York International Auto Show 2019. India is the first market to get the new Hyundai Venue including Korea and the USA. The Venue will take on a number of offerings including Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford Ecosport and the newly launched Mahindra XUV300 in the segment.
Hyundai India opened bookings for the Venue just a few days ago It create record by getting 2000 bookings in the first 24 hours. Company sources have now shared that bookings are already expected to climb past the 10,000 mark in quick time. The Hyundai Venue will be available in 7 colours. There will be three two-tone options on offer too.
The first Hyundai Venue was rolled out on May 6. “This is a proud moment for us at Hyundai. On this day 23 years ago, Hyundai entered India with a promise to make cars that will set new benchmarks in the industry. And today we are set to create history again with the global first – roll out of Venue, which will usher the future of connected mobility in India,” Hyundai Motor India MD & CEO SS Kim said.
The Hyundai mega manufacturing plant with its advanced manufacturing 4.0 production equipped with over 590 – generation 4 robots, quality and testing capabilities along with flexible engine plants, is completely equipped for the mass production of India’s first connected SUV – Hyundai Venue.
Hyundai will offer the Venue with two petrol engine options (1.2-litre and 1.0-litre turbocharged) and one diesel engine (1.4-litre). The 1.2-litre and 1.4-litre engine options are also available on Elite i20, but the 1.0-litre engine will debut on the sub-4m SUV. While all the three engines will be available with a manual transmission, only the 1.0-litre petrol engine will have the option of automatic transmission, a 7-speed dual-clutch unit.
The Venue’s primary rival is going to be Vitara Brezza. In terms of price, it will carry a slight premium over the Maruti because of its features. We expect the Venue to be priced from Rs 7.2 lakh to Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom).
