These are truly exciting times for all of us at Kia Motors, as we eagerly await our very first interaction with Indian customers in 2019 when our manufacturing facility in Andhra Pradesh begins mass production.
With annual production capacity of 300,000 units, the plant will ensure timely and smooth provision of Kia vehicles that boast world class levels of quality and design.
Kia is a Korean carmaker that is known for its value for money offerings in the passenger vehicle market. It is a sister company of the Hyundai Motor Group. Kia started its journey in 1944. It entered the automotive industry with a contract to manufacture and sell Mazda-licensed trucks and cars in 1962 and 1974, respectively. It currently has a portfolio of around 15 models, spanning from entry-level hatchbacks to premium crossovers. Kia announced its intentions to enter India in April 2017. To the same effect, construction of its manufacturing facility is underway in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh. The said plant is expected to be operational by 2019, with an annual production capacity of 3 lakh units. Kia India is reportedly aiming to launch five new models by 2021, starting with a midsize crossover based on the SP Concept that was showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo. Upcoming Kia Cars that are expected to launch in 2019/2020 include SP Concept, Sportage, Rio, Stonic, Soul, Ceed, Picanto, Stinger.

Kia Motors has just concluded its 15,000km-long second design tour in India. The tour covered more than 25 cities in the span of under two months. Kia Motors aim for the design tour was to create a strong brand awareness and reach out to new dealers and customers too.
