The much awaited SUV from Morris Garages Motor has finally made its official debut in India as the first offering from the British brand. The Hector comes as the second connected car in the Indian market after Hyundai Venue. The production of the Hector also commenced earlier this month at the manufacturing facility in Halol Gujarat with about 75 per cent of localisation to compete with other segment cars.
The Hector will also be the first car in India to get updates over the air (OTA) like your smartphones, you will get a new look screen and themes, new apps and new entertainment content from time to time as new updates are available. Also equipped with the i-Smart next-generation system. The Artificial Intelligence (AI) based completely integrated solution combines software, hardware, connectivity, services and application and comes with advanced features like – smart application, built-in Apps, Real-Time Navigation, Remote Location, Geo-Fencing, Emergency Response and much more. It also comes with pre-loaded apps including TomTom IQ Maps, Gaana Premium, and Weather app, in addition to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
As SUVs continues to gain momentum in the global automotive landscape, MG Motor is very clear to launch Hector SUV as per current scenario. The Hector SUV stands as the largest in its class with a length of 4655 mm, a width of 1835 mm and a height of 1760 mm alongside a wheelbase of 2,750mm and a ground clearance of 192mm.
MG Hector looks premium and well-equipped, offering features like low-set LED projector headlamps, a larger black mesh grille, high mounted LED daytime running lamps and a wide central airdam. The grille and the headlamps assembly are bordered by silver inserts, which in the case of the top-end model will be chrome.
It will come in both petrol and diesel variants. The 1.5-litre petrol will also be available in a hybrid (48V) trim. The oil-burner is powered by a 2.0-litre diesel motor (same as in Compass & Harrier) while the carmaker will offer a dual-clutch automatic transmission as an option, apart from the standard manual gearbox.
We expect the Hector to be similar in size to cars like the Tata Harrier and the Jeep Compass, but an aggressive price tag is expected. Stay tuned as we bring you latest updates.
